The Donohue Group (DGI) provides cataloging services on either a project or an on-going basis. This means prices can be locked in for a full calendar year if your institution has an on-going cataloging need.
Our cataloging team can tailor records specifically to libraries’ needs. We are experts at current international cataloging standards and RDA guidelines. From core to full-level records, we supply exactly what you need for your catalog. We can work with items in-hand or from surrogates (shelf list cards, scans, photocopies, or metadata). If you have the space for us, DGI can perform the services you need on-site. For materials that may be fragile, it may be important not to move them. If not, materials can be sent to our office in Windsor, Connecticut to be worked on without disturbing your employees.
Switching from a card catalog to a digital format? Upgrading non-MARC records? De-duplication and quality control needed on your catalog? We can perform retrospective conversion to help you with these problems.
Multiple formats: We catalog a variety of formats, including:
Audio books, E-resources, videos (such as DVDs, Playaways, streaming videos), music, maps, kits, rare books, and more!
Authority control: If your library is in need of authority control, The Donohue Group is certified by the Library of Congress to submit names to the LC Name Authority file. Authority control means we can not only authorize names that have no existing match, but that we can match all headings in your catalog to databases of your choosing.
Foreign language cataloging: For libraries with foreign languages materials, we can supply MARC records to enhance the visibility of those collections. The languages we offer include:
Afrikaans, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Greek (ancient and modern), Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latin, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, and Yiddish.
We can accommodate other languages upon request.
Processing & labeling: Once your catalog has been updated with records suitable for your standards, the items themselves might need to be prepared before going on the shelves. We can prepare labels and barcodes, as well as apply them to the items. Stamping, applying security devices, and protecting books with mylar jackets and easy covers can also be performed to fit your needs. If labels and barcodes cannot be supplied, we can produce them for you and apply them to your individual specifications.
