Archives

The Donohue Group employs professional librarians with all types of expertise, including archives. And because of this, we know how important planning is to a successful archive.

Consultation: We can help arrange archives and suggest proper structures to help you maintain a safe space for all your archival materials.

Surveys: Processing surveys help give you an idea of how your archive is being used, how successful archival housing is, and so on. We can not only develop these surveys for your archive, but find the professionals to conduct the survey and give you the results.

Organization: Adding new or backlog collections to your archive might require time that your staff doesn’t have. Our archives experts can help organize and arrange these collections for you. By having us organize these collections for you, items get into your archive quicker.

Rehousing and preservation: It is key for a successful archive to have proper housing for all its materials. We can treat archival items to ensure that they remain preserved for as long as possible. This may involve new materials, a change in shelving, or temperature.

Description: Our professional staff has experience using Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS). In order to get the most out of your archive, some description of the collection should exist. We can create MARC records or other surrogates to describe the collection.
